The annual Women in Media mentoring and networking event provides a forum to hear from, and talk to, some of Perth’s leading lights in media, PR and communications who’ve reinvented themselves along the way, or designed careers that keep them sustained.

This is a wonderful opportunity for early and mid-career professionals, as well as students, to gather hints and tips to help guide your career or advice on how to break into the media and communications industry how to move around and how to stay in it.
Following the panel discussion, there will be break out groups with each of our panel members for you to ask questions and make connections.
We’ll also be announcing the winner of our WiM WA mentoring scholarship – someone will be joining WiM WA committee members at the WiM Conference on the Gold Coast in September.

Danielle is a journalist and broadcaster. Her 30‐year career spans stints at The West Australian, ABC Radio, Scoop magazine, the Perth Writers Festival and as an advisor to the State Government. She is currently employed as Content Director at ABC Radio Perth.
Ruth is Cannings Purple’s Chief Innovation Officer, who uses two decades of experience as
a media strategist, communications adviser and journalist to develop, deliver and distribute messages that cut through. She is a skilled media trainer and works with professionals both within and outside the communications industry to develop their digital, writing and media skills. She works with emerging technologies including virtual reality in campaigns and continues to write for publications including the Australian Financial Review.
Jenna is the assistant editor and a senior reporter with The West Australian. She started her career in regional newsrooms and radio in WA before working in Canberra and Sydney with The Sydney Morning Herald and Nine newspapers for eight years. After that she went on to be a managing editor of ELLE Australia, Harper’s BAZAAR and BuzzFeed.
Liam is a news editor who has worked across digital, print and broadcast newsrooms in Sydney, London and Perth. He began at the West Australian newspaper before moving into digital news and relocating to the UK. On returning to Perth, he launched the website of the West Australian and WAtoday.com.au for Fairfax Media. He moved to Sydney and spent six years as the News Editor and Homepage Editor of The Sydney Morning Herald, before moving to the ABC and returning to WA to take on the role of Digital Editor, ABC News Perth.
